Experience SEAMAX ALASKA
How long is the full experience?
Our full SEAMAX experience lasts about 40 minutes from start to finish.
- 10 minutes exploring our immersive Alaska-themed lobby
- 10-minute pre-show with a live-action guide and sensory storytelling
- 24-minute main 4D film: Edge of the Wild
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes — we strongly recommend it. We run 10 showings per day, but seats are limited and shows often sell out, especially during cruise season. You can reserve online or walk up (if available), but pre-booking guarantees your seat.
Can I walk from my cruise ship to the theater?
Absolutely. We’re just a 4-minute walk from the main cruise dock in downtown Ketchikan at 405 Mission Street, Ketchikan, Alaska. If you're arriving at Ward Cove, shuttle buses drop off right near our entrance.
Is the experience family-friendly?
Yes! SEAMAX is great for all ages — kids, grandparents, and everyone in between. The film includes motion and movement effects such as rumbling and soaring and element effects such as mist, snow, smell, wind, and sound, but nothing too intense for most children. If your child is sensitive to sensory stimulation, you may want to preview the environment first.
What happens if I miss my scheduled time?
We do our best to accommodate you into the next available showing. However, seating is limited, and entry times are staggered — so please arrive early to guarantee the full experience. Missed showtimes are non-refundable but may be transferable based on availability.
What is a 4D film?
A 4D film is a fully immersive experience that goes beyond the screen. You’ll feel wind, mist, motion, smell, and sound. Our seats move with the action, and environmental effects bring Alaska’s wild beauty to life all around you.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Our theater and pre-show areas are able to accommodate wheelchair guests. Please notify staff at check-in and we’ll ensure you have a great seat and will provide any assistance upon request.
Is this a real film, or more like a ride?
It’s both. SEAMAX is a cinematic adventure, designed to tell a story and immerse you in Alaska’s most iconic landscapes. It has all the emotional power of a documentary, combined with the thrills of a motion simulator.
Can I buy tickets in person?
Yes, but we recommend booking online to reserve your spot — especially on cruise days. Walk-up tickets are available only if seats remain.
